Accomplished Ultra-Endurance Runner, Tim Borland, joins Strides Across Texas
On September 23, 2007, Snowdrop Foundation President, Kevin Kline participated in the AT Cure Tour Marathon in Sugar Land, TX with runner, Tim Borland, who was running 63 marathons in 63 days to raise money for ataxia-telangiectasia. During the run, Kline and Borland chatted about life and the children stricken with inexplicable diseases that they were both trying to help.
On January 11, 2009, both runners ran into each other as they participated in the Walt Disney World Marathon in Orlando, Florida. While running together for about a quarter mile, Kline shared his idea of Strides Across Texas and how Borland's AT-CURE TOUR had inspired him to attempt the ultra-running feat.
In March, Borland called Kline to find out more about the run and after a brief conversation, Borland was convinced that he and his family should join Kline on this life-changing run.
"Tim's involvement in Strides Across Texas legitimizes this event and brings a wider audience to our cause," Kline says. "Considering that Tim is uprooting his family from California to Texas for two weeks over Christmas illustrates his level of commitment to this endeavor while also proving how truly motivating and inspiring are the stories of childhood cancer patients. Plus, on a personal level, Tim brings a wealth of running experience with him that will further increase my odds of finishing this run...in one piece," Kline added.
Please send Tim a message and thank him for his dedication to helping sick children and to committing himself and his family to Strides Across Texas. Tim@TimBorland.com
TIM BORLAND BIOGRAPHY
In the fall of 2007, Tim set out on what proved to be a life-changing journey, traveling across the U.S., as he and his family embarked on the A-T CureTour. His purpose and mission was to help advance the work of the A-T Children's Project, fighting a rare and fatal children's disease called Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T). Tim ran a full 26.2 miles each day while pushing a mobility-jogging stroller for 63 days in 63 different communities across the U.S. Spending day after day with kids and families who are fighting against a terminal disease radically changed Tim and his family's perspective on life.
Tim is just an average guy who began running at the age of 23 with only the determination to lose weight and get into shape. His determination grew into passion and this passion has driven him to use his running to serve the needs of others and make a difference. Now he is motivated and inspired by the hearts of hurting children. Tim's core desire and commitment is to be a spokesman and advocate for children in need.
In May of 2008 Tim set out on his next expedition with a team led by world-class ultra-runner Ray Zahab. The team traveled to all 13 Provinces and Territories of Canada in 13 consecutive days, and ran 50 miles each day! The run was dedicated to a children's organization out of Canada called ONEXONE.
Tim's personal passion has also given him a deep desire to inspire others to use their unique strengths and talents to make a difference! He strongly believes that the power of intention and purpose, focused on the needs of others, can drive you to accomplish things that go beyond all human estimation and understanding! His personal mission is this: Dream Big Dreams, Believe You Can, Inspires Others!
